4 year varsity letterwinner in basketball and softball first 4 years of programs.
Led basketball team in steals (44) and shooting % (52%) her senior year.
Holds single season home run record with 20 in 1978.
2nd all time career home runs with 29.
2nd all time in stolen bases with 139.
Ranked in top 10 all time in runs (150) and runs batted in (107).
Totaled 108 hits during career with .419 batting average and .629 on base %.
Voted girls Most Valuable Athlete 1978.
Played college softball at Shawnee College.
Was head coach in softball and basketball at Cobden High School.

Nancy Choate Wright
Class of 1975
Pioneer in the athletic history of girls athletics at VHS.
Captain of first VHS basketball and softball teams.
Captain of VHS cheerleading squad her senior year.
Led softball team in runs (26), hits (17), triples (2), and total bases (30).
MVP of Carbondale Tourney which team won as the only post season tourney at that time.
Batted .515 that first season.
Led basketball team in scoring.
Received scholarship to Southern Illinois University playing softball and field hockey.
Led SIU softball team in doubles and sacrifices in one season and triples and runs scored another season.
Helped lead SIU to two college World Series appearances.
Coached many years in Indiana at Perry Central Community School in basketball, track, and cross country.
