Hannah McGinnis Wallace
Class of 2011
4 year varsity letterwinner in basketball.
Came to VHS as all-time leading scorer at New Simpson Hill.
Led VHS to school record 28 wins and Regional Championship in 2011.
Hold school records for most rebounds with 1228, most offensive rebounds with 419, and most defensive rebounds with 809.
Holds single game rebound record with 25 vs. Fairfield.
2nd all-time in points scored with 1498.
Ranks 2nd in most free throws made and 3rd in most field goals made.
Went on to play 4 years at Illinois College scoring over 1000 points and grabbing 1000 rebounds.
Was named to All-American and All-Academic teams in NCAA Division 3.

Brett Thompson
Class of 2008
4 year varsity letterwinner in basketball.
Big man (6'11") helped lead VHS to 2 Regional Championships and 4 year record of 89-30.
All-time leader in rebounds with 1035 and blocked shots with 485.
Ranks 1st in most field goals made with 738.
Holds season record for blocks with 156 in 2006.
2nd all-time in scoring with 1773 points.
Holds single game record of 20 blocks vs. Johnston City.
Received scholarship to St. Louis University and played 1 year there and then 3 years at Lindenwood University.
Played professionally in Graz, Austria after college.

Tina Gulley Penrod
Class of 1975
Outstanding 4 year letterwinner as cheerleader.
Cheerleader at Shawnee College for 2 years.
VHS Cheerleading coach for 21 years.
Over course of career, built a program that was respected throughout the state of Illinois.
Advanced VHS Cheerleading from sideline Cheerleaders at games to 16 member competitive IHSA teams.
Her teams won scores of team trophies at various southern Illinois tournaments as top cheer squad.
She took 13 teams to ICCA competitions advancing 7 teams to state final competition.
Placed in top 10 twice and as high as 6th place in state.
