Megan Mizell

• Outstanding softball hitter and pitcher.

• Holds record for batting ave. (.555) in 02-03 season.

• Holds career record for hits (227) at bats (520) and doubles (54).

• Southern Illinoisan Player of the Year in 2003.

• Played in Illinois Super 60 Softball Classic.

• Pitching record of 59-15 with 641 strikeouts in career.

• Received scholarship to University of Tennessee at Martin.

Billie Beggs
Class of 1938

• Outstanding track and basketball player.

• Finished 3rd in State in 1938. He bettered the state record in the half mile at the time with a time of 1:58.7.

• Held school records in half mile, 100 yard dash, 200 yard dash, and 880 relay.

• Received track scholarship to Southeast Missouri State.

• Captain of 1938 basketball team which won first Regional in school history.

• Led team to 22-6 record his senior year.

David Stafford
Class of 1988

• Considered one of the best hitters of all time at VHS.

• Holds records for home runs in season (18) and career (46).

• Hold school career records for slugging pct. (.769) and times on base with 363.

• 3 year starter in basketball scoring over 800 points in career.

• Above and beyond any stat was his great attitude. Coaches felt he was ahead of his time in his quality.
